Lesson 6 - Reflection on progress |
|
Lesson objectives:
> I have answered questions reflecting on the my role in the campaign > I have reviewed the answer of one of my peers and made suggestions on how they could make additions to their work > I have made use of group time and I am now aware of the tasks I need to undertake by the end of the campaign and what my party members will also be doing |
Individual task: Reflective questions
In your books, please answer the following questions to the best of your ability. You do not need to confer with your group, these are individual questions designed to help you begin to prepare for the controlled assessment.
2. What is your opinion on the situation at this early stage of the campaign?
e.g. I hate to think that there are people in an affluent country such as the UK that do not have anywhere to sleep at night and could get ill or die from having to spend a night outside in the freezing winter temperatures. I do not understand why the UK government and local council have not done anything to tackle this problem. |
3. Who came up with this idea and did you all agree that this should be a core value of the party?
e.g Hayley was the person to suggest the idea, it was similar to the idea I had about helping to support food banks. We discussed all ideas as a party and took a vote on which we believed were the most important to have as core values of the party. Although I would have preferred to have focused on my idea of food banks, I can see why Hayley wanted to concentrate on homelessness and I am happy for this to be one of our main points for the campaign. |
4. What do you think you can achieve during this campaign? Consider both what you can do personally and what the group can do as a whole.
e.g. As a group we hope to drawn the attention of people in a position of power and influence to the problem. I hope this will ensure that they give the problem more consideration in the future and use their positions to make a difference. Personally I plan to utilize my people skills, my English is not the best in the group but I am very good dealing with people in person. I will be putting this skill to use by conducting a survey on people via a questionnaire, I will also be speaking to my friend, family and peers, convincing them of the value of this cause and persuading them to sign a petition. I hope my actions will produce evidence that local people are concerned about homelessness and this evidence will help persuade the people we contact in positions of power and influence. |
5. How does your campaign link to the citizenship issues of:
A - Rights and responsibilities
B - Power, politics and the media
C - The global community
e.g. A - Citizens of this country have the right to live in a healthy and safe place, yet many peoples rights are not fulfilled. It is my responsibility as a UK citizen to do something about this and help others to receive the right to a home that I myself am fortunate enough to have.
B - Politicians and people in a position of power also have the responsibility to help those who are homeless receive their right to a home. As a group we will be making contact with people in these positions to remind them of their responsibilities. We will use the media as both a resource from research and a means of communication to reach other people.
C - Homelessness is not a problem limited to the local area or to the UK, it is a global issue that needs global recognition and action. I hope that with the actions we take we can have some small impact on this global problem.
