Key term: A political party is an organization of people which seeks to achieve goals common to its members through the acquisition and exercise of political power In the Britain there are many political parties, however the biggest three are the Conservative party who are sharing power in parliament with the Liberal Democrats, and the Labour part who are currently in opposition.

Unit 2 and Unit 4
You are now beginning work on Unit 4, this builds on the skills that you have developed during Unit 2. In this unit of work you are required to create a campaign that has specific targets and will comprise a series of actions that advance a Citizenship issue. You will: 1. Develop a campaign strategy for an issue 2. Participate in the campaign 3. Evaluate the outcome of your actions in the campaign |
Your task
Your teacher will put you into small groups, each group is going to have the opportunity to set up their own political party. You will then have the next month to run a campaign pushing for changes and improvements to school life, the local area and national issues. It will be up to each group to set its own aims and make those things happen. We will also be holding a school election to see which party is most popular following their months work. |

Once your teacher has set you into your groups / parties, you must discuss decide on the following points in the time allocated:
1. What is your party name?
This should reflect the core values of the party
2. Who will be the party leader?
Each party needs a front man/woman to be the face of the party, it is advised that you should chose someone who is confident at public speaking for this role
3. What are the core values of your party?
List the five main areas that you would like to help improve over the next month
4. How can you make a difference in the time frame available with the resources you have?
Are you going to write to people in positions of power or influence, will you collect signatures supporting your cause, could you run a raffle to raise money for charity, etc?
Ensure you complete the hand out and submit to your teacher at the end of the lesson. Your teacher will review your plans and offer advice on what you plan to do.
